Covid-19: the United Kingdom will vaccinate its population from next week!

It is the first country in the world to take the plunge. The United Kingdom announced on Wednesday December 2 that it wanted to use the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine on a massive scale, following, according to the British government, “the recommendation of the Independent Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) to approve the vaccine. use of the Pfizer / BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine”.

This is “fantastic” news, tweeted Prime Minister Boris Johnson. “It is the protection of vaccines that will eventually allow us to resume our lives and restart the economy”. The UK has ordered a total of 40 million doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for 2020 and 2021, which will vaccinate 20 million people (just under a third of the population), with two doses needed.
About 10 million doses of this vaccine, which must be stored at very low temperatures, should be available in the coming weeks, with 800,000 doses arriving as early as next week. They will be  aimed at priority audiences such as the oldest and most vulnerable people and caregivers.
